My passion for good wine began several years ago in my youth when I first moved to the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia in the mid 1990's. Though my first "tour of duty" in this fabulous valley did not last long I was here to see the beginnings of what has now become a fabulously diverse and growing industry both in this region and Canada as a whole.
After I departed I was fortunate enough to have family here that I visited on a regular basis as I embarked on a career in hospitality that took me to some of Canada's most iconic resorts. While working at these world class resorts I was exposed to some of the best wines in the world and developed an even more keen interest in learning more about wines.
All this eventually led me to move back to the Okanagan Valley, where I have been enjoying working at one of the local wineries and being immersed in pursuing my passion for wine knowledge. I by no means am an expert in this field, but have come to realize the more I know about wine, the more there is to know about wine!
Now with British Columbia being at center stage in the world hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics, I felt now was a good time to highlight the area of British Columbia that has been called "Napa North" and share some of my experiences here.
Through the course of my blog I hope to introduce those who are interested to some of the great wines that are being produced in Canada and more specifically in the Okanagan so that word can get out to the world about these hidden gems of the wine world.
I hope you will enjoy this journey as much as I have so far. Until next time, I hope you all enjoy a good glass of your favorite wine.
